[France can't see it, but Envy perked up and leaned forward at the mention of having food sent.]
I mean...yeah, food and water would be great. We've still got some, but...
[Yeah, food would be good to have. Water is in good supply around here if they boil it, but that means going near the Gyarados. He's quiet for a moment, and sounds both relieved and even more tired than before when he starts talking again.]
'S good to hear from you. Heh, I'm glad you're not stuck out here with us.
[Audio]
I'll send you as much as they can carry. Hopefully they won't... They should be themselves.
[France breathes out in a way that's not quite a sigh and more to steady himself.]
I'm sorry I'm not there for you. Is there anything else I can do for you?
[Audio]
[He really means it.]
None of ours have gone weird...not yet, anyway. [And he would really rather that never happened again. Once was enough, and he hadn't even liked them yet that time. He puts some bravado into his voice.]
And don't worry too much. I've been through worse than getting lost, and Henry knows about surviving out here. I'd rather you be in town. [There's a pause, and his voice gets quieter.] But...maybe you could stay on the phone for a little longer?
[Audio]
Thérèse and David are a bit fragmented. I put them back in their balls. I don't know if that's going to help, but. Well. Here's to hope.
[France swallows audibly, and his voice is a bit rough when he speaks again.]
Yeah, I can stay on as long as you want. Can you tell me what the lake looks like?
[Audio]
The lake's...it'd be a nice view if it weren't for everything going on. And all the Gyarados in it. It's huge and the water's blue, and I think it floods when it rains enough. There's a big marshy area around the edges that looks like it's underwater sometimes, anyway. I haven't seen any other people around, or trails.
[Audio]
It sounds like it would be a nice place under other circumstances.
[A beat in which Envy can probably hear plastic Tupperware being stacked atop each other.]
Except for all the Gyarados. That would be like swimming with sea snakes. Except giant.
[France clearly sounds like he's disturbed himself.]
On second thought, it doesn't sound that nice at all.
[Audio]
Trust me, if you're not interested in going vacationing out here with the sea serpents, I'm happy to never come back again.
But from the map, it looks like unless we wind up in the mountains somehow, we'll come out in Mahogany.
