Eighteenth Transformation [video/action for Ecruteak]
[Envy switches the video on to show himself sitting in what look like some of the higher branches of a tree, although not so high that he's in danger of his perch breaking. Someone is obviously enjoying the sun and warm weather Johto is having right now.]
[But while he looks to be in a good mood, there's also something he's been thinking about. Namely that he was informed of some events from his future by one Roy Mustang. Events that aren't going to end well for him. And while he'd prefer to think that Roy is just lying about it, it's still not something he'd like to chance. So, Johto, Envy has a question for you.]
Hey, for anyone that sees this. Say you found out about something from your future while you were here. Do you think it's possible to change it?

I think you're good at climbing trees.
Are you out here because of the message?
[Action]
I've had a lot of time to practice.
Would you like my answer first, or would you like to talk?
[Action]
[But that expression fades, only a little but still noticeably, at the question.]
Your answer, I guess.
[Action]
When I was very small, the ancient empires were strong. There were many of us back then, little Nations with only a vague identity, caught up in the wars and struggles of the ancient empires. I passed through many different hands, and I don't remember all of them. There was Rome, and Gaul, and I can remember other faces, but they've faded into time and out of memory.
I don't remember things back then properly. I think Italy and Romano remember better than I do, maybe because they had Rome to guide them, even after he fell from power. After Rome fell...
Things changed. It wasn't the ancient powers fighting anymore. It was me, and it was my triumphs, my defeats, my choices, my glory. And people--my bosses, my generals, my farmers, my priests--they all told me things. They told me I would be great; that I would fail; that I was doing God's will; that I was sullying God's image; that I was a boon, a witch, an miracle, a monster. I had oracles who told my fortune and future, and prophecies read about the end of the world. They said I was the future, that I was the past, that I was the present, and they promised me things, many things both good and bad.
But there has only one thing that all of these people ever have in common: they believed what they said to be true. I've lived my entire life with someone telling me what to do, with someone saying they know what will happen if I do or don't do something. And if there's anything I've learned, it's that--no matter where I am--just because someone says something is true, it doesn't mean it has to be. What becomes the truth is largely up to you. There is no one hundred percent certainty.
So, yes, I think it is possible to change your future.

[When France is finished speaking, though, he lets his head fall back against the branch he's leaning on, looking up at the sky through the branches. He doesn't look hopeful, just considering. It's a minute or two before he finally speaks, sounding determined.]
I'm going to change it. I'll figure out a way.
[Action]
You can and you will. I believe in you.
[Action]
I guess I should tell you what it is, huh?
[Action]
I am curious, but I am willing to wait until you are ready, if you need some time.
[Action]
I get killed.
[Action]
How and why? If you know one of those factors, you can most certainly change it.
[Action]
I don't know why, he won't tell me and there's too many things it could be for me to be sure. As for how...he said that we get into a fight.
[He lets out a low, bitter laugh.] He's the Flame Alchemist, the bastard probably just lights me on fire until I stay dea--
[He stops speaking abruptly, then, and looks almost apologetic. He hadn't intended to reveal that much about it. Though he still hasn't looked up.]
[Action]
This Flame Alchemist is here, in this place?
[Action]
He is. Since a little over a month ago.
[Action]
You're mine. He won't touch you here. If he even tries -
You're mine. No one hurts what is mine and gets away with it.
[Action 1/2]
[Action 2/2]
And even if I couldn't, I won't let him hurt me here. He doesn't have his alchemy to help him. You won't have to worry.
[Action]
I'm prone to worrying, but I'll try my best.
