Eighth Transformation [video/action if you can find him] [BACKDATED to evening on Christmas]
[When the video feed switches on, the camera situated near the floor. There is clearly a Pokemon filming this discreetly. A listener will be able to hear a piano being played; it's a slow, almost sad melody, but the player has clearly performed the piece countless times. However, said player is not yet in view, the camera-Pokemon choosing instead to pan around at the scenery. It's a somewhat musty, cluttered music shop from the looks of things. The owner is at the front counter listening, apparently having decided not to attend the festival. The camera finally turns towards the piano itself, revealing Envy as the musician. There are green earmuffs and a similar colored scarf around his neck, and under that one might catch a glint of gold chain. On the bench beside him lie a pair of black gloves, and some sort of colorful bauble is partially poking out of a coat pocket.]
[As for his expression, it's almost unreadable, although there's a look in his eyes that hints this music as something familiar and very old, although not dear. After a minute or two more, however, his fingers still. He's still looking right ahead at the blank place where a sheet of music would go, and an almost wry smirk briefly crosses his face before he mutters--]
Yeah, Leo. I can play something happy, if you want.
[The words don't so much sound as though he's lost it and has started talking to a voice in his head, but more like this is some sort of reliving of memory. He pauses to think for a moment, before starting into another song. As he plays this one, anyone still watching will catch sight of something very rare: Envy actually looks genuinely happy. No smirks or teasing grins, just a small smile. At the end of the song, the smile fades, and he closes the lid over the keys so that he can rest an elbow on it to prop up his chin. He looks a little frustrated with himself, a little wistful, and his next words are barely audible.]
Heh. Guess I really am pathetic sometimes.
[With the little concert over, the feed ends.]

[video, locked to Envy]
[video]
[At the question though, he snorts.] Yeah, you mean that yarn thing posing as a hat? It's in my room, I've been keeping the egg I got in it.
And I got the chocolate too. [It was already mostly eaten. He's still frowning as he continues.] What about you?
[video] hooray backtagging~ *fails*
[video]
[He stops to think about the request. He does remember some of it, but not all. It's been a while. So when he does start to play, it's several of the pieces mixed together. Along with his own embellishments when he's forgotten a bit. Since he's mostly making it up as he goes, he won't get too distracted if Greed keeps talking.]
[video]
[video]
And I do hate it. [When Greed brings up the trick they pulled on the first Lust, though, he snickers.] You never did like him much.
[video]
[video]
[video]
[video]
[video]
[video]
[He starts playing again after a minute or two of thinking, starting out slow but speeding up as he works out the right sort of tune and timing. It doesn't resemble a particular song, but it's definitely ragtime.]
[video]
[video]
This is just something I do for today anyway, I'm not hiding.
{Voice}
{Voice}
I've had a lot of time to practice that one.
{Voice}
It sounded similar to a piece I used to hear a lot when I was little...
{She's happy to give credit where credit's due.}
{Voice}
I've heard this one most of my life. Maybe whoever you heard it from has similar tastes to my mother. [He laughs quietly, as thought that's amusing.] Name's Envy.
{Voice}
I haven't heard for nearly one hundred years... {She doesn't know how to reply to the second comment, and decides that discretion is the better part of valour.}
I'm Ise Nanao. Envy... {Pondering, what an odd name...} As in the Seven Deadly Sins?
{Voice}
[Pause.] But we're not embodiments, they're just our names.
[Although what she said before...he sounds very interested now.] You're not human either, then?
{Voice}
{Pause.} I'm Ise Nanao.
{Ah. She'd have to explain this, now...} No, I'm not. Technically, I'm dead.
{Voice}
Really? So am I. That's a surprise, I haven't met any other technically dead people yet.
{Voice}
Really? Well, I know of at least two others... You way know them: Hitsugaya Toushirou and Matsumoto Rangiku?
Mmm. Well, my memories go back to approximately one hundred and thirty-six years, so I assume I died one hundred and thirty-seven years ago.
{Voice}
The man I used to be died around four hundred years ago, give or take a decade. I've never bothered with the exact numbers much. So how does someone go about being only technically dead where you're from?
{Voice}
Four hundred years? You sound well. {Oh geeze explanation time} I am what's known as a Shinigami - a Soul Reaper. I live in the Spirit World, but often cross into the Living world to cleanse souls.
...and to destroy Hollows.
{Voice}
Although since you're telling me, I can explain what I am too I guess. I'm a homunculus, what happens when some stupid alchemist tries to bring the dead back to life. Doesn't work very well. I don't do any jobs with souls or anything like that, though.
{Voice}
A homunculus? I know one of those. Except she wasn't made by 'alchemy', and she has the same powers that I do... And then some. She's also rather robotic in her mannerisms.
[VIdeo]
[Video]
[Video]
[And now is time for trollan'.]
So, who's Leo?
[Video]
[Video]
[She was about to say "kiddo", there, but the "three centuries" comment made her wonder if he was maybe around her age, chronologically. It'd sure be an interesting discovery to find some other people on the pokémon world who were a few hundred years in age.]
[Video]
You don't seem too surprised by the three centuries thing.
[Video]
[Video]
There's some others I've met here that are pretty old too. Since we're all from different worlds I guess I should stop being surprised.
[Video]
Y'don't say? Who like?
[Video]
Hm, well France and Beatrice both said they were at least a thousand, and who knows how old Yao is 'cause I didn't ask, but he's probably older. Human countries and a witch. And there's Greed, he's younger than I am.
[Video]
Envy an' Greed, huh? An how's about the other five sins?
[Video]
So what about you then? Guessing you're not exactly human if you're that old.
[Video]
I was, once upon a time. An' then shit happened, an' I gained eternal youth, basically.
[It's so simple.]
[Video]
[Video]
[Video]
I just know someone who wanted eternal youth more than anything, and she was always so serious about it, going on and on.
[Video]
[video]
Kiyahaha! Play something happy again~
[video]
Maybe I will, if you'll give me your name in exchange.
[video]
[a small bow] Asmodeus of Lust, right here!
[video]
[He pauses to think, both of where he's heard a name like hers before and what song he'll play.] You wouldn't happen to know Beatrice would you? She's the only other person I've met talking about knowing sins.
[video]
[tilts her head a bit, one pigtail slipping off her shoulder and dangling through the air] You've met Beatrice-sama?
[video]
[video]
[thoughtful expression] Beatrice-sama gave you a present? She must really like you.
[video]
Really? Well we did talk for a while, and we have some things in common...I'm guessing her liking people isn't entirely normal?
Anyway, here's a song for you. [He turns away from the camera to start playing something similar to this.]
[video]
[she falls silent when he starts playing though, resting her cheeks in her hand and listening to the music intently]
[video]
Did you like the song?
[video]
[video]
And I don't normally have such an appreciative audience, either.
[video]
[video]

[action]
Actually, finding Envy could be both a good thing or a bad thing. ...Well, whatever.
Sneaking in after you stopped playing - playing which he heard outside.]
Envy where have y-
[Beat. Look at piano, look at Envy, piano. Envy.]
You were playing that?
[action]
It's...something I do on Christmas. Sometimes. When I remember. [Or when he's feeling particularly lonely or out of place.]
[action]
Oh, I ... see. [Vague gesture] I didn't know you could.
[action]
[Envy wasn't sure what Tulio was doing here anyway. They hadn't been doing any jobs, so what did he want Envy for? His voice is a teeny bit unsure.] ...wasn't Miguel with you? Did you need me for something?
[action]
[But OH RIGHT, MIGUEL-]
Aughsfja no- he- nyaagh [groan] I can't find him, he's gone again he better not do anything stupid [Pause. Breathe. Grab Envy's arm not-at-all-demanding.]
Have to find him before he kills himself. Did you see him?
[action]
It should be fine, what's he gonna do? Fall off a building?
[action]
... he might.
[And there are so many freakishly tall buildings in Goldenrod too. Okay, no, he's not seriously thinking that would happen, but he's a pessimist at heart, so what do.]
If there's any way he can get into trouble he will. Damn it. Have to find him. I uh ... [lame gesture] you keep playing, I guess, real nice-
[Totally halfway out of there again yep]
[Text] | You decide if Envy sees who's sending this xD
i didnt know you could play piano. youre good
[Miguel respects musical talent, but he'd never be caught complimenting Envy.]
[Text] hmm I think he totally will >:D
I've had a long time to learn. thanks
how much did you see?
[Mostly, 'did you see me talking to myself like a loser']
[Text] oho Miguel still thinks he's safely anonymous though. This can get interesting C:
[Miguel is itching to ask who this Leo is but he will restrain his curiosity for now]
i havent heard much harpsichord music, much less seen someone play it. wish i had cause they sound beautiful
(ooc: oops real Pianos didn't exist in the 16th century. Pretend he said Harpsichord there before as well >_>)
[Text] indeed it can 8D
They're called pianos now. i did used to play harpsichord too though
I might play more here another time, it's nice.
Are you at the festival?
[Text]
[... and here Miguel gets a little worried. Shit, does Envy know it's him?]
no. i left a while ago
[Text]
Didn't fit in with all the rest? that's why I left.
[Text]
i don't think youd want to if you knew who i am.
yeah. that, and it got lonely
[Text]
You don't have anyone to hang around with?
[Text]
[Text]
did you try calling him?
[Text]
[Text]
You must be good friends.
[Text]
[MACHINES DID NOT EXIST IN THE 16TH CENTURY]
yeah.. we are pretty close [So goddamn close they're almost one person even]
[Text]
[Why is he telling Miguel this? Who knows, the moods of Envy are strange things, and tonight's been odd for him. He's wondering if he should reveal that he knows who he's talking to soon or just keep talking.]
[Text]
[Text]
And nobody wants to be friends with a monster anyway. I was fine without them.
[Text]
[Yes he is]
[He's also trying to come up with a good argument that FRIENDS ARE GOOD but with that episode in mind... it's not going very well.]
its nice to have one as long as the friendship lasts though... [but the longer they are, all the more painful the goodbye is]
[Text]
An odd way to put it. What, have you lost one before?
[Text]
[Text]
[Yep, that's right. He knew it was you all along Miguel. What now.]
[Text] 1/2
[Text] 2/2
you dont know
[Text]
I don't even know what you're worried about me for.
[Text]
[Text]
he doesn't even like me
[Text]
[Text]
is that what your damn problem is? he's going to want me gone as soon as I stop being useful
[Can you feel the vitriol, Miguel? There is quite a lot of old, old bitterness behind this.]
[Text]
yeah he said that before too. well get rid of her once shes not useful anymore
[Text]
[Text]
... who is Leo?
[video]
Happy? Now tell me what happened with this girl.
[video]
Chel is a two-faced savage, tricking and fooling us, stealing Tulio away from me. [Said through gritted teeth and with so much repressed rage I don't even.]
[video]
You'd think I would have more in common with Tulio, but you're so full of jealousy that it might be you who's closer to the monster. Maybe you should stop to think about where you're headed with that rage of yours before you wind up like me. You don't appreciate what you've got, human.
[video]
I am a human, just like you said! I'm lucky if I live to see the next day! I appreciate what I've got EVERY SINGLE DAY, because if I don't, I DIE! And the one single thing I always appreciates the most is Tulio!
[He pauses, glaring at Envy with narrowed eyes. When he speaks again his voice is bated, although still full of rage]
But you don't understand, cause apparently you're not human...
[video]
That's right, I'm not human. I'm a monster that shouldn't even exist at all. Homunculi don't have friends, homunculi can't because we aren't supposed to have souls. Leo didn't love me but it doesn't matter because it's not as though I could have returned the feeling. My own damn creator didn't want me, nobody ever fucking has in four hundred years. And I've kept going.
Are you telling me that even if Tulio had somehow managed to not want to be your friend anymore just because he also likes someone else, that you could never have made another friend in your life? Did you two meet her living by herself on a deserted island?
He's never even mentioned her, the only person he seemed to want to find here was you. And you're so busy worrying that he'll somehow choose a troublesome, soulless doll of a creature that you don't even seem to notice or care that you. Are. Wanted.
[video]
[When he finally speaks, his voice is low and devoid of anger]
...is it any wonder that I worry?
If you could... wouldn't you?
[video]
But I can't. There's a reason my master named me Envy.
[He turns away from the camera, and taps at a the piano keys in a simple, nonsense melody. For all his immaturity, there are times when his age shows. He's given up on being angry for now, he just looks old and lonely.]
He stopped by here a while ago, looking for you. I don't know where he went after that.
[video]
I.. I guess I'll go looking for him.
[video]
[plink plink plink go the piano keys. After a few moments Envy speaks up again, without looking at the camera.]
I knew it was you already, when I offered to show you how to play.
[video] uuuurgh aaaaawkward
Oh... [Miguel has no idea what to think or say right now.]
[video]
[She holds her right hand up to the camera. The gold, snake ring is around her ring finger. One of her rare genuine smiles appears on her expression, though it is small.] You have good taste.
[video]
[He does look very pleased at the compliment to his gift, though, and that goes for both the words and the smile.] I know I do~
I'm glad you like it, it seemed fitting. I'm grateful for what you gave me, too. [He grins and pulls the necklace out from underneath the scarf to show that he's wearing it.]
[video] asdfjkl; I'm so sorry I'm late @.@ school has been keeping me pretty busy lately
I'm happy to see that someone does. [She starts thinking about a certain troll who completely put down her gift. She hopes that her face is blank so Envy doesn't notice.]
[She sighs and pulls the blanket around her shoulds closer to keep the chills of the night away. She'd have to thank Mammon for the blanket later. She's also alone, unless you count Abbadon.]
[video] Don't worry I am happy to backtag :D
Are you still traveling?
[video]
For now, I'll be staying at Violet. One of my servants has found me here and she has decided to stay with me.
I'm guessing that you're also remaining in one place for awhile?
[video]
It's good to have familiar people around, isn't it? I'm stuck with just Greed now, but he can be good enough company sometimes. Talked with one of your servants a little earlier, too. Asmodeus of Lust?
[video]
[She shrugs her shoulders lightly.] It is. After all, it's better than being alone. As for myself, I have Lucifer with me and we're planning to meet up with a couple of others at Ecruteak sometime in the future.
[She chuckles.] Ah, her. She's the youngest of her sisters, so don't be surprised if she appears in over her head.
[video] aaa late sorry
Heh, she's definitely a lot different from the Lust I knew back home. She was second youngest, not even two decades, but her human self died when she was around thirty and we seem to keep that sort of maturity even as homunculi.
[video] it's okay, I'm just as late ;A;
Your Lust certainly does sound more mature than Asmodeus. [She chuckles.] That girl is always in search of her "true love." Although, if she does find him then he won't last long. [Her lips curl upwards a little.] She tends to be a bit rough.
[video]
[At what she says next though, he laughs.] Really. Well perhaps she'll find someone sturdy. It sounds amusing, anyway. The one I know talks about philosophy too much, but we get along alright.
[video]
[She chuckles darkly.] Back home she was always breaking Battler and she'd come to me so I could fix him. However, if she breaks her toys here, I won't be able to do anything. [Still a little cross about losing her powers, but she's gotten used to the idea by now.] I tend to get along with most of my servants, although I am weary of my butler, Ronove.
