[Envy had certainly retreated into being snappish and avoidant in the immediate aftermath--nobody would have been getting much of anything out of him then.]
[But he's calmed down some in the time since, letting his prickly walls back down to somewhat normal levels.]
[He's flipping through his 'Gear when Lust approaches him, only halfway paying attention to what he sees. He looks calm enough, and when she speaks he doesn't jump in surprise or scowl, simply groans at the sight of the shirt. So far, so good?]
[He certainly doesn't suspect anything.]
I can't tell either--might as well give it to Wrath. He could always use something new to wreck.
[It really is just like that, to get Envy to talk about anything like this.]
[But after the careful lead in, the fact that it doesn't seem to be about him...this hook catches.]
Yeah, can't imagine why you would.
[The sarcasm, as always, rolls off his tongue easier than anything, a self-comforting measure rather than a dismissal. But he knows what she's talking about and decides to go with it rather than shut the conversation down right then and there. Which is a good sign.]
A few things in particular, if we're being honest.
[Lust leans back against the doorframe, holding the shirt against herself with her arms crossed.]
All in all, a number of things indicate I...am more bothered by things from our old life than I care to admit. Even to myself.
[Something she thinks, perhaps, Envy understands all too well. And she keeps the focus on herself, presenting it as her problem. Which it is, she's hardly putting on some front for her brother's sake. She's just not foolish enough to flat out address whatever may be bothering him.]

[Maybe.]
[But Envy's response is encouraging. He seems...well, more at ease, if nothing else. Or at least enough so to put up a bland and un-bothered front.]
And one day I'll master the damned washer and dryer machines. One step at a time, as they say.
[Lust isn't one to make idle small talk, but she'd like to at least try and smoothly transition into bringing up the shared nightmares.]
Though I suppose today's incident was simply a fault of my own distraction.

Yeah, you don't want to set another one on fire, right?
[He shrugs, although another frown and an oddly distant look pass over his face, because he knows damn well why everyone's been distracted.]
We've all been...distracted lately.

[And Lust will never admit otherwise. It isn't as though it's happened since. Yet.]
Mmm, well, we've a right to be. God knows we all have other things on our minds. Certainly I do.
[It's almost like gently coaxing a cautious, secretive animal. Laying out small bits to pique interest, seeing if anything catches.]
