Darkness flew quick and silent to the Shark House in the orange of dusk. He had known about Walter's intentions to evolve him for quite a while but hadn't realised it would be so soon. He wasn't against the idea. He would be larger and stronger, capable of even more than he currently was.
The only thing that concerned him about evolving was Lyra's reaction. Would she be put off by his size? Would she dislike him as a Honchkrow? Of course it would do nothing to sway Walter's opinion on the matter but it would be reassuring to have her support.
He landed in one of the trees and began to call to her, transferring the gleaming bracelet he had 'found' to his talons. "Lyra! Lyra!"
Lyra, unaware of the news she's going to be getting from her love, is perched on the corner of the roof opposite of his tree. But while she doesn't see him, she certainly hears him calling out for her.
She takes off right away, bangles clinking together as she flies.
"Darkness!"
What a lovely surprise! As soon as she pinpoints the tree he's in, she goes in to land alongside him on the branch.
"You've come to see me! I wasn't expecting you! Oh, and what's that in your claws? Why, it's nearly as nice to look at as you are!"
"A mere trinket compared to your beauty, but to find anything that matches you would require a lifetime of searching." He hopped closer to present it to her, bobbing his head a half-bow. He couldn't resist briefly grooming the feathers of her cap affectionately, before addressing the reason he had come here.
"My heart's wings...I have some news." He began, clicking his beak nervously. He wouldn't patronise Lyra by beating around the bush, especially since she would rightly call him out on it. "My trainer is intending to purchase a Dusk Stone soon. He has been looking into evolution and believes it will be time for me to do so, after comparing the abilities of a Honchkrow to a Murkrow. I'm not opposed to the change. Unless it would damage what we have."
It's what she usually says in response to his more poetic statements, but it's an affectionate jab. She gladly takes the gift in her own claws, pausing to admire it for a moment while he preens her, and leaning to briefly do the same to the feathers around his neck. Although then...
"Why, it would not damage a thing! It would be different, of course...but I will say that you would still be very handsome. And with bigger wings to cover me with, hm?"
Darkness let her loving petname roll off his feathers. He knew he could wax prose...or at least, he would admit it around Lyra. If anyone else were to make a comment about his use of words, he would not let it slide as easily.
But when she said it wouldn't damage their relationship, he could have sung for joy. "I had heard of many Pokemon who could not stand their partners when they evolved...but of course, my wings would be yours, my dear!" He hopped a little closer, extending a wing over her.
"The thought died this very instant, the moment you spoke." Darkness snuggled up to his love, tucking her under his wing as much as he could with them being the same size. "There is nowhere I would rather be then in this very moment with you. If only I could leave more than shiny jewels with you when we must part for our trainer's sakes."

"Well, they're a bunch of idiots, aren't they? I know when I'm part of something good, and you're it. So don't worry about it, my love."
