58th Transformation [video/action for Olivine]
[This feed goes up not too long after midnight; Envy had just meant to take a quick walk, maybe stop by the Pokemart…]
[That's not what wound up happening.]
[The video shows him huddled under the awning of a shop, with a strange catlike Pokemon clinging to the top of his head and staring with wide, traumatized eyes at the 'Gear. It's kneading at the top of Envy's head and purring anxiously. The dark around him is full of light thumps and mews as things that are much larger than raindrops land on the ground and on top of the awning.]
[Envy just looks a mix of incredibly annoyed and even more incredibly baffled. There are little cat scratches all up and down his arms, shoulders, and even a few on his face. He is studiously ignoring the cat on his head. He already tried getting it off. It didn't work.]
Okay, there's no hurricane this time so what the hell is going on? I haven't even seen this kind of cat-thing before!
[He mutters as an afterthought:] At least it's not sharks.

Okay, there's no hurricane this time so what the hell is going on? I haven't even seen this kind of cat-thing before!
[He mutters as an afterthought:] At least it's not sharks.
[voice]
...
As he watches, his expression changes from a look of passive indifference to...well, confusion, for one. He can understand sharks being pulled out of the water thanks to a tornado, maybe.
....but. ...]
What is that.
[video]
[He shrugs in exasperation. The cat just keeps on staring into the camera, unblinking.]
It's not something I've seen before. And I don't know if it's just happening here because I have terrible luck or if they're everywhere.
[video]
[The voice comes quickly, even though he's getting visual proof that what Envy is saying isn't a lie. It is literally raining cats wherever he is, and as he hears more dull thumps and mewls of distress, he keeps talking.]
Where are you?
[video]
You say that like everything here isn't ridiculous already.
I'm in Olivine. Where are you?
[video]
Goldenrod.
[There's a pause and the sound of a door being opened, followed by rustling over the microphone.
...Then, quiet like the jaws theme, a chorus of frantic meowing calls out into the night, and without warning Nagi finds himself jerking a hand up as something scales his leg rather quickly.
A few somethings.]
W-...what-!?
[MEW MEW MEW MEW MEW MEW]
[video]
[It answers it in the best way possible because somebody might be having a worse time than him now. And that makes it hilarious.]
Careful, if they get on you you'll never get them off!
[Yeah he's only barely not laughing. If only because he wants to be able to hear what happens next.]
[voice forever]
He puts a stop to that right quick, reaching down with his free hand to pull one of them from his pants leg, only to have it replaced by a fourth almost immediately.
Through it all, the poor things are still coming down. Nagi doesn't answer right away because he is that bewildered, coupled with grunts of frustration over the panicked mews as he tries to peel the little Pokemon from his body.]
When- when did this start?
[He manages to grind out, one of the Pokemon clinging to his shoulder, another held temporarily in his arm, and the other two still beating a path to his other shoulder as fast as they can go.]
[video forever]
[The first meeeeeeeewwhump had been written off as 'probably just a Meowth falling off a roof'. Then there had been another. And then it had just been more and more and more.]
Having some trouble?
[He's still trying so hard not to start laughing but there is no hiding this shit eating grin.]
no subject
Once he's righted himself, he's got four Espurrs on his person, hanging on for dear life. There are still many more plummeting from the heavens, and it is quite a sight to behold.]
I'm fine. But these...Pokemon aren't going to be if this keeps up.
no subject
If they keep falling like this, they might start piling up enough to be a cushion for the newest ones. Like snowdrifts.
[Snowdrifts made of live cats. Envy may have been talking to Henry a little too much over the years.]
no subject
And what becomes of the ones trapped beneath?
no subject
I didn't think that far into it, really.
no subject
[Especially if they're shooting up the nearest trees in their panic...or people, in his case.]
video;
Cats.
I'm going to get one!
video;
Of course you are. Are they falling out of the sky where you are too?
video;
...they kind of look frightened, actually. I feel sort of bad.
video;
[He points to the one attached to his head.]
I can't get this one off of me.
video;
But this is also Greed we're talking about here.]
Looks like you've made a friend.
[Yes, really. He's going with that.]
video;
It doesn't look like I have any choice in the matter.
[Aka he's definitely keeping this animal and he's going to love it. The Espurr mews and kneads at his head some more.]
video;
I've never seen a Pokemon that looks like that before. Do you think it's a new species?
...do new species often rain from the sky?
video;
But it's not usually just one at a time, and they haven't ever rained out of the sky. The last two times, everyone just woke up with a random egg.
video;
At least they don't seem to be getting hurt.
video;
[And what they want. With the eggs, Envy's seen plenty of people dealing with the equivalent of a homunculus getting a Yamask.]
video;
Like I said, the animals don't seem to be in pain. Though I can't really tell what the cats are thinking. Or if they're thinking at all for that matter.
no subject
Gets a face full of cat.
By the time he respond over the 'Gear, he's got visible scratch marks on his face, his hair's all frazzled, and he's looking more than a little exasperated.]
You know, I'm almost disappointed. Sure, we got cats, but I don't see any falling dogs. You'd think that if they really wanted to break physics again, they'd go all out.
[Only he'd rather not get hit in the head with a falling Arcanine.]
no subject
Don't even say that. With this place's luck, I wouldn't be surprised if it started just because you said that, and I at least want to get back inside.
[He squints out into the dark, as though making sure dogs haven't started coming down after all. No, still just cats. Then he finally looks at his 'Gear, and snickers.]
Had some trouble yourself?
no subject
[He rubs his cheek, right over one of the scratches.]
Think they're gonna start having to make them out of titanium at this point.
[At any rate, he nods, smiling sheepishly.]
Word of advice: don't open the windows unless you want a face full of claws.
no subject
[Sigh. But at the explanation he laughs.]
I'll be sure to remember that. I've had enough claws falling on me for one night.
no subject
[Shaking his head, Riku takes a seat on the edge of a bed. That Espurr from before is staring at the back of his head. Judging. Watching.
He looks to the side and shudders.]
...So, how's your new cat holding up?
[Action]
Do they all look like this?
[Action]
[He leans to peer into the darkness past the awning; there are streetlights, but it's still not easy to see the faces of the cats as they fall from the sky and then scamper away once they've landed.]
...how are we going to get back to the inn in all this?
[Action]
[Well, it's a lot of things, none of which seem like they need to be said. France sets the Espurr in his hands down at his feet, staring at it. It stares back at him. He gets trapped in an impromptu staring contest of the disturbed before Envy's question draws him out of it. He looks out, reaching up to brush his hair out of his face.]
They don't seem to be aggressive? We could probably try running through them?
[It sounds as lame aloud as it sounded in his head. He puts his face in his hands.]
This is so weird.
[Action]
You'd think we would expect weird by now. But I don't even know what to do with all this.
[He pinches the bridge of his nose, trying to think.]
...maybe if there was some way to tear the fabric off this awning and use it as an umbrella...I don't know.
[THEIR OPTIONS ARE VERY LIMITED.]
[Action]
I would suggest we try some of our pokémon attacking them, but who knows what type these are.
[He would rather avoid a knock out, considering he also doesn't know what level all these falling creatures at.]
[France lowers his hands, straightening up to gaze up at the awning.]
Might be our best bet. Why don't you see if that end has a way to be detached, and I'll work on this one?
[Sure, it's technically stealing, but France will just pay for any damages.]
[Action]
[Envy nods and goes to his end, finding a bolt that can be undone near the bottom. He goes ahead and starts working on it.]
Is there a bolt on your end too?
video;
The poor things don't seem to like falling from the sky anymore than we like them falling on us.
video;
Have you seen the looks on all their faces? Every single one of them looks like this.
[He points to the one on his head for emphasis.]
video;
video;
They do, don't they?
I wonder what the hell is causing this?
video;
I'm keeping one.
video;
[Envy rolls his eyes and sighs with exaggerated frustration, frowning up at the one on his head.]
I don't think I get a choice about keeping one. Did you already find yours?
video;
[Lust bends down out of the frame for a moment and lifts up a quivering Espurr]
He fell into my sleeping bag and didn't leave.
video;
I'd say it was a bad time to be stuck out on the routes, but I'm in a town and I'm not much better off.
[He glances out at the Espurr rain around him again.]
Where are you and Greed now, anyway?
video;
Oh, we've made it past Mt. Moon. We're making good time, even with taking it slow.
video;
I mean, besides the cats that are happening right now, those don't count.
[The one on his head mews. She counts! She's not sure what she counts as but she does!]
Re: video;
[She really can't help but smile at the memory. It had been a memorable night, after all.]
They are endearing little things, aren't they?
video;
[He grins, and then shrugs at the next thing she says.]
I guess I'm getting used to it.
Private video;
[Between the nighttime spelunking and the Clefairies and the aftermath, Lust definitely thinks it counts as one of those things people refer to as 'magical'.]
It suits you.
Private video;
[DEETS, WOMAN]
[He also might be reaching up to give the Espurr a brief scritch behind the ears. Just maybe.]
Private video;
We had a...very nice night.
Private video;
[He's just teasing, with a laugh in his voice.]
What sort of Pokemon?
Private video;
Clefairies.
Private video;
Trust me, even if you guys were getting up to things, they are going completely unimagined by me.
Oh, is that where they usually live? I've got one of those.
Private video;
[It's said with affectionate and teasing warmth.]
It is. They're sweet things.
Private video;
I'd tell you, but I'm afraid they're far too twisted for anybody else's ears.
I don't have him with me, but next time I see you I'll introduce you to Charon. He's...enthusiastic.
[And yes he did name a pink marshmallow after the ferryman of the dead he should not be allowed to name anything.]
Private video;
[She laughs outright then.]
Oh, do. I enjoyed the time I spent with his cousins in the mountain.
Private video;
[He's laughing too now.]
Let me guess, there was dancing involved? Because mine hardly wants to do anything else at night.
Private video;
There was dancing! It's funny, I don't think I've ever actually just danced before.
Private video;
You didn't happen to get any funny pictures of Greed dancing with the adorable marshmallows, did you?
Private video;
Maybe I did and maybe I didn't. You'll have to wait and see.
[Of course she has pictures.]
Private video;
[Now he knows she has pictures. Whiiiine.]
Private video;
No, you just have to wait until I bother to go through them all and figure out which ones are worth keeping. And sharing.
video
[What in the name of... WHY THIS. Asami is shooing a panicked cat-thing out of her hair as she speaks.]
video
From what I can tell. I've had people from Goldenrod and Kanto tell me it's raining cats where they are.
[He drags a hand down his face.]
This could at least have waited another ten minutes for me to be inside.
video
video
This hasn't happened before except with the hurricane! And when that happened there was at least a reason.
video
video
It'll stop when it stops. Why, are you stuck outside or something?
video
[Two of them in the past couple of months? Really, now. It has to be a regular thing.]
video
[HE'S JUST AS LOST AS HER.]
video
So you have absolutely no idea.
video
[DON'T YOU SIIIIGH AT HIM.]
But nothing ever lasts too long here. What's the big hurry anyway? You have somewhere to be?
video
video
They're not happy about it, but it doesn't look like they're getting hurt.
video
[Asami makes a face out the window she's currently sitting by.]
video
I've seen small birds take a ball of fire to the face, how bad could falling out of the sky...be...
[The trail off is because one of the cats has landed on the ground right outside his shelter and is now Staring at him.]
[And he kind of can't help staring back, these things are a little creepy and he's not sure if he wants to take his eyes off of it.]
video
[She pauses when Envy makes prolonged eye contact with one of them.]
See? It's not normal!
[Video]
This one is small. I wonder if there's something wrong with it?
[Video]
Do I look like a cat expert?
[Video]
[Video]
So are you keeping that one?
[Video]
[Video]
Aren't you traveling with someone you'd rather talk to about this than some stranger on the network?
[Envy is a bit confused by this kid.]
[Video]
[So... no.]
[Video]
[Video]
[... Friends are hard.]
[Video]
[Because friends are hard.]
[Video]
[Video]
[Video]
{video}
Heather mentioned something about flying sharks, and I did reinforce an umbrella just in case - but I didn't think I'd be needing it quite so soon.
{The Espurr mews, and she reaches up to pet one of it's paws gently.}
{video}
[Wasn't one rain of Pokemon enough? Wasn't it? Ugh.]
I'm not sure even an umbrella would have helped with the sharks, though.
{video}
...considering that it apparently occurred during a cyclone, I think the only thing that an umbrella would have given me was a ride into the stratosphere.
{video}
Probably.
A cyclone? I thought it was called a hurricane?
[Forgive him he didn't even know what a hurricane was before last month.]
{video}
When it comes down to it, there's not a lot of difference between the two. Lots of wind and rain.
{video}
[He lets out a short laugh, and waves one hand casually.]
The place I come from is completely landlocked, no bigger body of water than a lake. I didn't know a thing about hurricanes or cyclones.
{video}
I'm glad I never experienced that particular phenomenon.
...ah. Where I live now is much the same, but I've traveled pretty extensively. I've seen a few storms in my time.
{video}
No hurricanes in the spirit world, then? Makes sense.
{video}
{That's right... If her-who-came-before was close to Envy, she would have probably told him about what she was. And where she came from.}
....well, except for those created by other Shinigami. Some of them had weather-related powers.
{video}
Ah, you told me before, that's how I know.
...weather related powers strong enough to make a hurricane?
{video}
{She muffles a sigh, and rubs at her temples. The kitten on her head bats at her fingers.}
Weather powers strong enough to make three feet of snow in the middle of June. {Hitsugaya why.}
[Video]
[Her gear clicks shut for a few moments as she goes to find a window. When her feed returns, it's pointing out at the streets of Goldenrod where it is indeed raining 'mon.
Hallelujah.]Ooh, is this going to be a regular occurrence now?
[She sounds far, far too excited about that.]
[Video]
[Envy would really rather it not be. He likes going outside without getting concussions!]
You sound like you want it to be.
Re: [Video]
[Plus it could weed out the people willing to go outside in a hurricane, for example.]
...they don't seem to be doing much besides falling and staring, do they.
