[Al's been moping around most of the day since he realized this morning that Edward and Winry had disappeared. It hurt, that he'd lost his family all over again...but he was glad they at least went home together. They could go home and live happily together like they deserved to.]
[It isn't until late afternoon that Al realizes that Envy...might actually deserve to know. He could hear an echo of Winry's voice in his imagination scolding him for trying to attack Envy at the circus--she would have wanted Envy to at least be told. So after a few false starts, Al finally manages to send a short message that doesn't actually have any vitriol in it.]
[Envy wasn't expecting to get a message from Alphonse's number. Just seeing it, he's all good and ready to get into another argument, except then he sees the message.]
[It's a strange feeling. He and Winry weren't exactly friends, but they weren't enemies. He didn't dislike her. And she'd been there for such a long time that he'd started to take for granted that she might ever go home. He also has no idea how to respond to this. Taunts and mockery are his usual go-to, but...disappearances have long stopped being funny. No matter who gets left behind. It's a bit before he responds, with simply:]
[Al had been bracing himself for some snippy comeback, some snide comment that would prove Envy hadn't ever cared about her, had only fostered that contact just to use it to hurt Ed or Al if they ever showed up. But the reply he actually sends is...he doesn't know what it is. He doesn't know what to read into it, or if there is anything to be read into it.]
[He feels like he should respond, but he doesn't quite know how or with what. It takes a while before he finally settles on something.]

She would have wanted you to know.
