Sixteenth Transformation [Fourth wall/video/action for Goldenrod]

[Envy hasn't been sleeping well lately, and he never really developed very good sleeping habits in the first place. So it's no surprise really that he's up and about in the middle of the night, hands in his pockets ~~when did he start wearing pants so often anyway~~. And then, suddenly, there's the BRIGHT FLASH and Envy just freezes because even though it's been a while he remembers the three day memory lapse and insane dreams that happened the last time there was a flash like that. He glances around briefly, just in case there's three of the same woman pointing a gun at him again.]

[Wait. He feels different. Or no, rather, he feels like he's supposed to. Without really thinking about it, he brings one arm up in front of him, and with a small amount of concentration, a bright light travels up it and leaves a stone spike in its wake. He stares for a minute.]

[And then he grins, and transforms. Not into anybody in particular, just one of the people he and Miguel and Tulio have conned before, a particularly gullible man that he remembers laughing at. The sparks and light have barely faded before he's changing again and again and again, laughing with half-manic relief. He wears remembered faces from both Amestris and Johto, and the only ones he doesn't take are from the people he knows well.]

[Eventually, he settles back into his regular form, complete with his old outfit, still wearing a wide, cheshire grin even though he's stopped laughing.]

Heh, looks like Johto's done something right for once.

[Video sent a short time after this:]

[When the feed comes on, Envy still looks to be in an extremely good mood, judging by the smirk on his face. He's got his powers back, how can this turn out badly? Viewers might notice his dead-person-pale skin and weird purple cat eyes.]

So, I can't have been the only person to get my old powers back, can I?

[You want to know how this could turn out badly? A certain alchemist will show you how this could turn out badly. By igniting the air all around you.]

[HOLY SHIT THAT HURTS. WHAT EVEN HAPPENED. WHY IS HE ON FIRE.]

[A rather charred Envy sprints to get away from the flames as soon as he's able to, feeling very thankful for regeneration and still wondering what the hell even just happened. He skids to a halt a good ways away from where he thinks the flame might have come from, shouting at wait was that the damn Flame Alchemist?]

The hell was that for?!

[He knows that there are a lot of things that could potentially have been for, but he'd like to at least know which thing.]

Think you can get away just by playing dumb?

[Here, have some more fire!]

[Envy screams as the fire hits him again. This is way worse than three Riza Hawkeyes.]

Do you think you can beat me like that? [Bluffing while he figures out what to dooo and looks for escape routes. He's on his feet again when he can get up, hoping that if he just keeps moving he'll be harder to hit.]

I've done it once, and I'll do it again! I don't know how the hell you came back, but I'll gladly get rid of you this time, too!

[Not so fast, Envy. Roy claps his hands, then plants them on the ground. Dirt walls shoot up as Roy attempts to cut off escape routes as they appear.

I hope you don't mind that he's taken a level in badass since you last saw him, Envy.]

I don't remember ever being gotten rid of, alchemist! [Envy shouts this over his shoulder with a snarl as he keeps running. He is very confused by Roy not needing a circle; when had he been to the Gate?]

Then I'll be happy to refresh your memory!

[Snap. BOOM.]

[As he takes another hit, Envy is not wanting to be in this fight at all. He just wants to get away and not be on fire anymore, and then maybe get his act together and stab this guy in the back later or something, but he's not liking his chances right now. Maybe if he could get to his bag, but that was too far away right now... Time for a distraction.]

So who did you try to bring back to life, huh? [He sneers, looking as vicious as he can manage as he heals from that last attack, feigning being more incapacitated than he is.]

...What are you talking about?

[He starts slowly backing up, looking around for where his bag might have wound up and really hoping that it hadn't been set on fire. Ah, there it is. As soon as he finds it he keeps moving his gaze around to avoid drawing notice to it, then focuses back on Mustang.]

You used alchemy without circles, so you must have seen the Gate.

...Your brothers chucked me in. I wasn't depraved enough to try to perform human transmutation!

[Another wave of fire coming your way! Though, for some reason, he thinks you'll move in the other direction, so it's a bit off.]

[This...kind of confuses Envy, honestly, but there's not time to question it.] Ha! Well that's one less reason for me to kill you, human! Not that it helps your case much.

[As he speaks, he sees his opportunity and sprints for his bag, flames licking at his side but not doing enough damage to stop him at all. He grabs his bag by the strap as he keeps moving, grabbing a Pokeball at random and tossing it out. The beam of energy solidifies into a large Tyranitar, who looks around in confusion.]

Chimera! Attack that guy! Earthquake, Hyper Beam, I don't care what you use!

[Chimera just tilts his head and rumbles at him with some disapproval. Trainer he is not supposed to attack people you know that. :| Although while Envy is busy yelling at his Pokemon, he is notably standing still for easy targeting.]

[That catches Roy off-guard. A capsule to contain chimeras?]

You've got some new tricks up your sleeve, eh? Well, don't expect me to waste my time with chimeras when I have bigger fish to fry!

[HAVE SOME MORE EXPLOSION.]

[Chimera is normally a very friendly, easygoing Pokemon. But he's damn loyal to Envy, and when he sees that fireball coming, his reaction can only be classified as 'oh HELL no'. He'll be moving pretty quickly to stand in front of Envy and take the attack himself. And those flames don't do much damage to his rock skin. So when the fire clears, Roy will see one very unhappy, snarling dinosaur standing protectively over the surprised homunculus.]

[Envy stands, still burnt and blistered from the heat, but it's better than being charred. He smirks.] This guy is hardly an ordinary chimera. Sandstorm!

[Sand starts to pour out of the holes in Chimera's armored body, obscuring the battlefield.]

The hell?

[Roy shields his eyes from the sand. He approximates Envy's position based on where he last saw him, then once again creates an explosion.]

[This time, Envy's managed to get out of the way in time and is circling, using the sand as cover. After a short time, Roy will hear Ed's voice shouting.]

What the hell?! Where'd all this sand come from?

You think that old trick is going to stop me from fighting?!

[This time, Roy snaps his fingers on both hands. Two explosions ensue.]

[Yeah, Envy hadn't quite believed that Roy had already fought him, and gets caught in the fire yet again, screaming. Although this time, it's accompanied by a dismayed roar.]

[Followed by heavy, stomping footsteps coming right for Roy. There's also just enough of an Earthquake attack going on for the ground to be shaking and pitching. Chimera is Not Happy with Roy trying to kill his trainer, and while he won't hurt the human, he will be trying to grab and pin him in an attempt to prevent any more fire.]

[With Roy's visibility hampered by the sandstorm, he couldn't avoid the Tyranitar. He found himself successfully pinned.]

Ngh... Dammit! Let me up!

[Chimera growls and doesn't move. Nope, Roy, he's not going anywhere anytime soon, although now that the danger seems to be averted, the Sandstorm attack starts dying down and vanishing.]

[And here comes a viciously smirking Envy, completely ready to take advantage of Roy being trapped to kill or at least severely hurt him.] Looks like you should have paid more attention to the small fry chimera, huh?

[Although then his smirk fades into a frown when Chimera swings his tail to prevent Envy coming closer. When this Tyranitar wants the fighting to stop he meant his trainer too.]

Rgh... Looks like I'm not the only one he wants to stop fighting. Good to see one of you has...nng...some decency.

Tch, like you're one to talk about decency.

[Envy is now frustrated with not being able to get back at Roy for that fire. Stupid Pokemon trying to be moral compasses.]

[The air around Nagi is full of leaves and grass from his power whipping up a whirlwind. He is...quite pleased, to say the least.]

Of course you aren't.

[Oh that is interesting.]

So that's the telekinesis you were telling me about, huh?

Yeah it is. I can move pretty much anything.

Impressive.

And all with just your mind, right?

Exactly. I could demonstrate more if I were there in person, though.

Yeah? Like what?

...hope you don't mean demonstrating on me.

[That was exactly what he meant, but he's not going to admit that.]

[Yeah Envy doesn't believe that. But he ~~probably very mistakenly~~ figures that he would be able to do something to stop it if that did happen.]

Well, where are you?

[Only now he's not. Nagi poofs in and out of view before he appears and looks at his Gear again.]

...Goldenrod.

[...what. Well, Envy's not going to bother questioning whatever the hell Johto is doing today.]

I'm over near the hotel. [He turns the camera to show the building.] If you can find it, I wouldn't mind seeing the better demonstration.

I'll be there in a few moments.

[He finds it after only taking one wrong turn and smirks at Envy before he puts a large crack in a building's wall. It won't topple it, but it does look pretty ugly now.]

[POOF! Goldenrod. WHAT THE BBQ SAUCE?!]

[Okay. WHERE THE HECK AM I?]

[Wait. What's all that noise behind me?]

[... Oh HELL no.] Envy?!

[STREAMING A LOT OF WATER TOGETHER.] No. You're NOT.

[When he hears his name, he turns around. Hey wasn't that the girl that was with Ed? That had been all righteously indignant about murder?]

[Wait what is up with that water.]

[Figures.]

[But sorry Katara he's not exactly scared of you at the moment.]

Are you trying to be threatening?

[Well, yeah, it probably does come across pretty threatening. In truth she's getting ready to possibly defend herself.] What can I say? I don't take chances around murderers. [Doesn't sound very apologetic for it.

Sorry Envy, :( she's got some personal issues with your type.]

[He smirks, and changes one arm into a curved blade, which he casually brings up to inspect.]

That's hardly fair, I haven't killed a single person while I've been in this world.

[He's not very convincing right now with the attempts to reassure, false though they might or might not be. Katara splits the large stream into two water whips.]

I guess you think that's supposed to make me feel better, after what you did to Ed's last friend?

Heh, your powers aren't too bad. What is it, some kind of alchemy or magic?

[He does shift so that he'd easily be able to get out of the way if she actually did something. At the last part though, he laughs cruelly.] Is this that guy people keep telling me I've killed? Or have I managed to off another one of his precious friends?

[She's not going to reply to the powers question. YOU MAKE'A ME SO MAD!]

You really think it's funny?! You took another person's life! What gives you the right?! [Super pissed because apparently he had a little girl and a wife. That's a little too similar to her story.] Aren't you even the slightest bit sorry?!

Why should I feel sorry for taking some pathetic human's life?! [Envy drops his cool expression briefly for a snarl, but then that's hidden under a disdainful expression.]

Just by living you take someone else's life, girl. Don't get righteous at me.

[It's a little chilling, but anger she's used to. You can't really scare her that easily after she's been dealing with Azula and various manner of beasts and angry spirit monsters for so long. Now THERE'S rage.]

What are you talking about?

{There is a tiny little girl who may look a little familiar staring at you.}

..!

[When he notices the staring kid, he turns around to look at her. His first instinct is to tell her to get lost, but she does look kind of familiar...]

What're you staring at, kid?

{!!! HIDING INSTINCTS ACTIVATED.}

{She hides behind her books, and tiny multicoloured sparks begin to drift over her body.}

I-I'm sorry! I didn't mean to offend you!!

[Whoa, what are those sparks? Envy looks more curious now, and leans forward to get a better look. And he's pretty sure now who this could be, although he's not sure how. Time to investigate.]

Hey, I'm not offended at having an audience. What's your name, kid?

{One eye peers out from behind that book ~~how is she even holding that up it must be half of her bodyweight?!~~ and eyes him off.}

U-uh, I'm Ise Nanao, sir.

[Okay, suspicions confirmed. ...This was still really strange. He brings one hand to his chest anyway, grinning.]

I'm Envy. [He is really curious about those sparks, though, and reaches out to her arm.] What are these?

{To herself:} What a bizarre name... {She'll just stare wide-eyed as he reaches a hand out; the sparks tickle a little, and are warm to the touch.}

Wh-what are you... {If he touches her arm, he'll find that they will spiral around his hand and arm, as long as he stays in contact with her.}

[When the sparks start spiraling onto him, he jerks his hand back. He still doesn't know what they are, and he'd rather not find out the hard way that they were dangerous.]

Just curious about the sparks. So you think my name's weird, huh? [He sounds more amused by this than anything.]

Oh. They're not that dangerous. {Squeaking! And blushing a bit.} W-well, just a little. I've never met anyone named after a sin before.

[ohi. have a scott. and knuckles, of course.]
I wish I had powers to get back. I mean, other then the power of being awesome - which I didn't lose.

[Envy almost doubletakes.]

...I guess? But this time feels different.

...although I guess there is some weird stuff happening.

_{[Finding him just as he's sending that video out, Tulio frowns and approaches right when he finishes. That bright light? Not good for sleeping. Tulio's always been a light sleeper, and this, well, obviously woke him. Why he's out, he's not even entirely sure himself.]}

Hey, Envy. What kind of powers-?

_{[A little cut short as he takes in the suddenly much more pale-ness and those eyes. He stops with mouth slightly open and takes half a step back with a frown because Envy what happened to you.]}

[Envy looks up when he hears Tulio, grinning still. That grin fades slightly when Tulio takes a step back, but maybe it's just surprise? He did look different, after all.]

All of them, I'm a homunculus again.

So ... this is you being a monster?

_{[Eyebrow of skepticism, but there's definitely a bit of uncertainty to his voice. Yeah, he hasn't forgotten the whole I-am-a-monster-thing that he hadn't believed in.]}

Yeah. Well...

[Demonstration is probably the way to go here. A crackling white light travels up his body, leaving behind the form of one of their con victims from a few days ago.] This is more me being a monster, actually.

_{[He blinks. He stares. And blinks again, before sort of reaching out as if going to poke him, but then decides against it and just stands sort of frozen at the whole thing with the hand instead going to his face and he rubs his neck to buy time. Because wow. What.]}

Wow. Well, that's pretty, uh, useful.

[Well that's a pretty good reaction, to tell the truth. Envy grins wider, and changes again to look like Tulio.]

[Smirk.] I told you.

Woah woah- _{[He holds his hands up and tries to be not too weirded out by the whole thing, but it's pretty hard, hence his halting movements and speech. That, and looking at yourself, but with that kind of grin and that kind of speech pattern, is just ... a little much.]}

Do I want to know what else you can do?

_{[Because he remembers Envy the way he was at the start - aggressive as hell. If he had powers to match...]}

[Envy notes Tulio getting a little over-weirded out, and sighs and returns to his usual form.] Better?

Heh, I'll show you anyway. See that lamp post? [He points to it, and without really waiting for an answer, jumps to the top of it. He sits crouched on the balls of his feet, grinning down.] I can also do this. Or I could've just knocked it down; I've got strength too.

[Fortunately, Tulio is one of the people who doesn't have to worry about Envy harming him.]

_{[His voice is totally a little faint at this point, because ... well, really.]

[And he's actually pretty sure Envy wouldn't do anything too bad to him, but he's still got those trust issues hanging around his head, and new things scare him, so he'll still keep back. You know, just a little.]}

Waitwaitwait, I don't- how did you do that?

_{[Because being able to do that in a world full of elemental animals clearly doesn't make sense.]}

Easy. I've got enough strength and speed to jump a lot higher than humans.

[He snickers.] You know, you've got a six foot dragonfly that follows you around, it can't be that much of a stretch.

_{[...point. He actually pauses as if realizing this, before gesturing vaguely Envy's way.]}

Just because it's crazy doesn't mean it isn't true.

[And with that, he jumps back down, landing right in front of Tulio.]

_{[He holds up his hands by reflex as if to shield himself from Envy slightly when he lands so close so sudden.]}

You're right. That just makes it more crazy.

Somehow I doubt my world in general would be sane by your standards.

[He shrugs.] I'm not going to hurt you, you know.

_{[More as an 'oh' than a 'yeah right', he instead puts his hands on his hips, regarding Envy with a mixed expression.]}

So ... now when you can do the changey and leapy things, what're you gonna do?

[This question gives Envy pause; he hadn't really considered it.]

Well...they make me more useful, don't they? [Hello roundabout way of asking if he can stay in the group.]

_{[Oh you can stay in the group. He supposes. Maybe. You're sort of creepy now, aren't you?]}

Yes, well ... yes. Not to mention the new scary look it gives you. It really works on you, by the way.

Hah, I guess I should say thanks for that.

[He grins, taking a short flourishing bow in an attempt at humor; Tulio might catch sight of the red V of lines and nodes on his back that don't really look like they're part of his clothes, but part of his back. Envy, for his part, is just trying to be as unthreatening as possible, and there's a little bit of nervousness in his posture and expression.]

_{[Oh yeah, he catches that. He's really good with details like that, even if he's still an oblivious fool when it comes to emotional matters.]

[But yeah, he plays along.]}

Nah. You're just a kid who's really a monster with weird things on his back, no big._{[Except, yeah, he is still pretty unsettled - but since Envy's still, well, being Envy about things, he's being pretty calm.]} Feel like explaining those, by the way?

These? [He reaches over his shoulder, tilting slightly to show that he's pointing to the lines, but he doesn't turn enough so that they're actually facing Tulio.]

[He looks a little wary now that they've been brought up, honestly. He pauses, considering what to tell Tulio, and his voice is a little hesitant when he does speak.] They're...I don't know what to call them, they help circulate energy so that I can keep moving.

If one gets pierced by something, it slows me down a lot. If all three are, I'm paralyzed.

_{[Please excuse Miguel while he just. Stares.]}

[Once he notices Miguel, Envy turns to smirk at him.]

Told you guys I wasn't human.

Uuuh, yeah. Right. I remember. That's just..

A little more not-human than I'd thought. _{[Although you look a lot more human than he thought you would.]}

I, uuh, a bit. I saw you.. sparkling and stuff.

_{[Basically, he saw the whole thing. How? The magic of 4th walling]}

Not just sparkling, transforming. But it's impressive, isn't it?

_{[Miguel can't deny it, it could be really useful. That said, it doesn't mean he have to like it]}

Damn straight I have other creepy superpowers. [Is that grin kind of worrying? Yes, yes it is.]

[Envy goes over to the nearest brick wall, pats it with his hand, and then pulls back and punches a hole right through it with what looks like very little effort.] I can do that too.

_{[Miguel is, in fact, worrying right now. Do not want super strong apparently-not-a-human on his bad side, nope. Actually taking a couple of steps back now]}

Oh shit. Uuh, that's.. that's nice.

[She doesn't know how or why she just ended up here, but here she is suddenly with a flash, looking around her in alert confusion.]

... Where am I?

[Envy turns to look at the pink haired girl that has suddenly appeared, surprised. Then the surprise is replaced with an amused smirk.]

Heh, welcome to Johto.

[Sakura turns to see you there, Envy, not that she missed your presence, but--

Okay, something is REALLY weird with your chakra, pal.]

Johto? Are you the one that brought me here?

I wish, then I'd be able to send myself home.

[He puts on an entirely too cheery fake grin.] But guess what, now you're stuck here too.

[She straightens up from the crouch she'd been in upon arriving. She looked a little scuffed up, arriving from the middle of training.]

Oh really? Well try not to sound so sympathetic about it.

[Clearly this is some kind of genjustsu. I'll just release the jutsu and...

Forming the hand seal and--] Kai!

[... Nothing happens.] ...

I'm not exactly a sympathetic person.

...what was that supposed to do? [Weird. He and other people had gotten their powers back. Maybe it was only if you were already here.]

[Sakura's brows furrow, recognizing that this is indeed either a damn good genjutsu, or something else entirely, not to mention there hadn't been a moment when she could have been trapped in one, so what gives?

Alright, then. Let's just ask this not-very-sympathetic person how they got stuck here.

... Dude, your dead skin thing is kind of reminding her of a certain deceased Sasuke obsessed snake in the grass.]

Nevermind it. So who are you? How'd you get stuck here?

... Powers, huh.

[Big grin.] Yeah, all of the ones I had before. Shapeshifting, strength, speed, regeneration...

Pretty glad right now for the regeneration though.

The guy who showed up to set me on fire would probably have been a lot more trouble otherwise. [Long suffering look. Heather it was the opposite of fun 8( ]

_{[Henry stares a little. He's just hanging out in the pokemon center and poking through familiar names on his 'gear, oblivious to...EVERYTHING. As usual. But after speaking with people who say they are ponies, he has a question for the Banana Lord.]}

Back? ...Were you a super hero?

Super hero?

...yes. That's exactly right. [He's not sure exactly what 'super hero' entails but it sounds like a good thing and Envy is perfectly happy with telling outrageous lies to make himself sound better.]

[Never mind how she got to where Envy's at, little Beatrice standing a few feet away.]

Are you a sorcerer?

[It takes a second for Envy to think he recognizes this kid, and since it might be Beatrice and not some random child, he wears an amused smirk instead of something more irritated.]

Maybe I am~

[Envy will be hearing this laugh (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lS97d7GjzRE&feature=related) and then a cloud of golden butterflies will fly past him.]

Good to see that you've gotten your powers back, Envy~.

[The butterflies gather together and begin to form the shape of Beatrice, except now she's in her dress (http://www.zerochan.net/522134) and holding her pipe in her hand.]

I see you've gotten yours back too.

When did you get back to Johto? [He was sad when he found out you were gone, Beato!]

[Envy eventually notices that he's being snuck up on, looking up and around when he hears footsteps, but he doesn't see France. So he appears to relax again, and doesn't give any signs that he knows yet.]

[Even though Envy isn't completely surprised, he does jump a little. Then he tilts his head back so that he can look up at France, grinning widely.] Hey there.

Guess what? I got my powers back.

Bonjour!

Really?

[Envy is clearly as happy as a kid on Christmas about all of this.] Transformation, strength, everything.

May I see?

Of course you can.

Anything in particular you'd like to see~?

Oh, I don't know...

Not that you're not already sexy, but I'm curious...

[Envy is completely happy being leered at, and smirks back.]

Can you turn into a woman?

[Envy laughs, tossing his head and smirking pridefully.] Easy.

[He takes a few steps away from France, and one transformation later, there is one very female Envy standing there with a hand on her hip.]

How's that?

That's extremely impressive.

[Envy just basks in the staring and compliment.] Why thank you~

[Sauntering up closer to France now.]

It looks so real...

[Envy leans up against France, looking up at him with a widening mischievous and decidedly flirtatious smirk.]

It's just as real as the form you've already seen me in.

Well, you're certainly no liar.

[Envy makes a pleased noise and leans a little into France's hand, smirking.] Not about this, anyway.
